Desperate Serbwife

More plight around the world

In the last few days I have read some more articles that disturbed me and reminded me of the scary conditions that millions of people in the world are living in. I have put links to these articles on the right side of my blog in case anyone is interested.

The first is an article about the over 73,000 people that have died in last months earthquake in Pakistan. 73,000!!!!! And there are MILLIONS that are now homeless and facing the freezing winter of the Himalayas without shelter or food and often missing many members of their families. MILLIONS of people are living in a situation that we can not even imagine and many of them will freeze or starve to death this winter. Yet the global community has not helped in the same way that they helped after the Tsunami or Hurricane Katrina. It is probably a case of disaster-fatigue, but I still hope that "we" as the world community are still willing to help. This is a disaster on a colossal scale and the International Red Cross and other organizations still need our help.
