Baseball Intervention for Mike
Dear friends and family -I write to beg for your assistance in helping Mike. You see, it is spring, which means it's baseball season. This usually marks the time of year when Mike is bounding around the house in his Yankee cap telling me excitedly all about the home run that Jeter hit in the game today and looking for every excuse he can find to go to NYC to catch a game.
But I am afraid that Serbia has had an unfortunate effect on him. Despite the fact that he has ordered the Major League Baseball package so he can watch games over the internet, and the fact that he is competing in 3 fantasy baseball leagues (one of which he let me join and I'm kicking his ass.....but I'll save that for another post), he just can't seem to keep track of when the games are on. Can you believe that he has missed seeing the Yankees' last 3 day games (we can only watch day games because of the 6 hour time difference)! It's as if living in Europe has messed up his equilibrium - he still checks the scores and he knows what is going on, he just can't seem to figure out what time it's happening.
This is very unlike him. He always knows what time the game is on, even if he can't watch. It's as if the distance from Yankee stadium has diminshed his ability to be a fan. If we stay away from baseball much longer, he might even forget who his favorite team is and start rooting for the Orioles or something terrible like that!
So, I'm begging you, please, if you know Mike, if you have his email address, send him a schedule, or remind him to watch, or just talk a little baseball with him. He needs to be reminded of the joy that baseball season brings him, even if he is thousands of miles away and we can only hear the Yankees over the internet instead of being able to see them (our internet connection SUCKS).
Please, help him out - for the love of the game!

As two Yankee fans from the Bronx, we could probably fill Mike in.
Especially Andy, he will know everything about the Yankees and would be glad to share with Mike.
So all is alright with Mike's baseball world again.

Mike's subconscious is clearly trying to save his soul from the dark side of the yankees. He should use this opportunity to root for ANY other team. Rooting for the yankees and their 200 million+ roster is like rooting for the house in blackjack!
Well that's funny! We're two Canadians sitting here in Albania right now, listening to our Blue Jays (via MLB on the net). P has a fantasy baseball team as well and he's totally wrapped up in it. Every morning he wakes me up asking me to guess what place he's in! Go Jays Go!
